The Rt. Rev. Larry Benfield was consecrated Bishop of Arkansas in January 2007.

At the time of his election, he was rector at Christ Churchl in Little Rock. Prior to his tenure there, he was Canon for Administration and Planned Giving Officer for the Diocese of Arkansas and served as interim rector at St. Luke's in Hot Springs, and St. Mark's in Little Rock. He began his ministry as Episcopal campus chaplain at Texas A&M University.

Within the Diocese of Arkansas, Benfield has also served as secretary of the Board of Trustees, president

of the Standing Committee and vice president of Executive Council.

At the time of his election, he was editor and examination reader for the General Board of Examining Chaplains.

Originally from Kingston, Tennessee, Benfield earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee and his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1990 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1991.
