Respected and beloved by both the learned and layman alike, he shares insights into Christianity with simplicity, ingenuity, and wit. His books reflect his wide-ranging interests: gifts of the Spirit, morality, sex in heaven (on joy), the problem of suffering, the philosophy of surfing, etc.
Raised a Calvinist, his searching took him on a journey to Catholic faith, aided by C.S. Lewis. He wrote, “Lewis is the only author I ever have read whom I thought I could completely trust and completely understand. But he believed in Purgatory, the Real Presence in the Eucharist, and not Total Depravity. He was no Calvinist–in fact, he was a medieval.”
Like Lewis, Kreeft is an accomplished apologist, with book titles such as Handbook of Christian Apologetics, Christianity for Modern Pagans, and Fundamentals of the Faith.
