Meet Sally Russell
Sally is a life-long Episcopalian who was born in Durham, North Carolina, and raised in Wichita, Kansas, where she attended St. James Episcopal Church. After their marriage in 1965, Sally and David Russell moved to Hutchinson, Kansas. Quite unexpectedly, David died of a massive heart attack in 2001.
The following year, Sally began her current job as parish administrator at Grace Episcopal Church in Hutchinson. She has also served in various capacities within the larger church:
• Deputy to Provincial Synod and General Convention, 2006 & 2009
• Member, Diocese Standing Committee, 2008-
• Member, Planning & Arrangements Committee, 2003 General Convention
• Secretary, 2003 Triennial Meeting
• Chair, Bishop Search Committee, Diocese of Western Kansas, 2001
• Vice President of Program, National Board
of Episcopal Church Women, 1997-2000
• Secretary, National Board of Episcopal Church Women, 1995-1997
In addition to these, Sally has held a number of positions within her diocese and the province.
On a more personal note, Sally loves to cook and entertain, so much so that in addition to taking a number of cooking classes locally, she has studied at the Culinary Institute of New York.
Not surprisingly, Sally collects cookbooks, which she says sheI reads "like novels." She also collects crosses, of which she now has "well over 100."
