Episcopal Relief and Development
The Rev. Virginia Holleman
Four and a half years after her first husband, John, died, Virginia enrolled at Perkins School of Theology. Their older son, Brad, was a senior at Trinity in San Antonio at the time, and their younger son, Russ, was just starting at Emory. Virginia graduated in May 2001 and was ordained to the diaconate three weeks later. The following May she was ordained to the priesthood at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in McKinney, where she was serving as curate. Virginia was called to the Church of the Transfiguration in March 2006 and served there until her retirement in June 2011.
Virginia remarried in 2003; she and her husband, Tom, have five beautiful grandchildren with his son, Tom, and daughter, Emily; one grandson with Russ; and a little granddaughter expected in December. Virginia volunteers with Episcopal Relief & Development as the diocesan network coordinator for Dallas and provincial coordinator for Province VII, and with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as the Education & Outreach Coordinator for Dallas (her twin sister died from this disease in 2008). She also spends time every day with her 95 year-old father and really enjoys doing supply work. (She's also catching up with all those wonderful books she didn't have time to read when she was on staff full-time at a church!)
